FAQs: Insurance/Billing
It is my desire to be as transparent as possible when communicating what to expect on your bill. I will do my best to tell you if I'm able. The most sure way is to process a claim and go over the EOB (explanation of benefits) with you. I will often charge you nothing until we receive this back. The insurance has thirty days to process the claim.

Insurance Billing
When billing "in network" with an insurance company there is a pre-exisiting negotiated rate. If the insurance has an agreement to pay a maximum of $115 for a 60 minute session, that is the rate that will be enforced regardless of stated bill price. Example: The price of the service may be $175 per session but if the rate is $115, the rest is dismissed.

Deductible
Depending on the plan that you agree to with your insurance provider, you will likely have a deductible to meet for the year which renews Jan. 1st of each year. You must fully meet the deductible in most cases before they will pay for the service. You will personally be billed at the cost of the service until your deductible is met.

Copay
If the deductible is already met for the year than often the client will pay a percentage or fixed amount for a copay.
This copay is frequently a fixed amount that is often the same cost of having an appointment with a general practice physician not a specialist. Some insurances pay a percentage instead. They may pay 80% for example rather than $25-$35 copay per session.
